Featured Oriental Rug & Persian Carpet Designs
Persian and oriental rugs are an ancient art form, spreading across Central Asia and countries such as Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, Nepal, China, and Russia. The oldest hand-knotted rug in existence is the Pazyryk rug, which dates back to the 5th century BC.
Persian and oriental rugs come in wide variety of patterns and colours, with regional influences playing a large role. For example, many motifs in tribal rugs have originated from a particular tribe or region, such as the Tekke motif in Bokhara rugs. Sometimes with the union of two tribes, the particular motifs representative of each tribe were integrated and combined into a new design.
